News at TRIPS

The working bee on Saturday Morning ran overtime in that not everything planned was completed before the Management Meeting at 9 o’clock. The usual things, maintenance and finances, were discussed and concluded. A demonstration of what can be done using this WordPress Blog was made and it was agreed that this project be proceeded with.

After the meeting concluded washing the hall chairs resumed under the capable hands of Kay Tuckerman ably assisted by Brigitte and John Wark.

All the hall chairs were in action on March 9 for the Western Flyers, d20190309aetails can be seen in a previous post. It was a full house. In fact the hall overflowed. The band from Texas loved the hall and our local enthusiastic Thirroul audience. They said it was the best show of their Australian tour and are looking forward to coming back.

Upcoming Concert at Thirroul Railway Institute

The Western Flyers(USA) Saturday 9th March

Show starts 7:30PM

The Western Flyers are one of the most exciting bands to glide on to the music scene in years! Their unique sound is a cross section of the great American Songbook: classic western swing, hot jazz and swing standards, vintage country and cowboy songs, and electrifying old-time fiddle tunes. The trio features arch top guitar slinger Joey McKenzie, who brings his dynamic rhythm guitar style and smooth vocals to the band along with Katie Glassman, a 3-time National Swing Fiddle Champion and vintage-style singer extraordinaire. The “Baron of Bass”, Gavin Kelso, compliments the band in a mighty way with his incredible upright bass playing and baritone vocals. Dubbed “The Biggest Little Band in the Land”, folks often comment, “You guys sound bigger than you look”.
